Early pick-up at Bangkok airport, railway station or city hotel; drive to Ayutthaya (former Siam royal capital, empire history), ruins and temples, guide brings history alive, boat ride; drive out of central plain into hills (green); Wat Tham Sila Thong (thousands of bats leaving early evening); overnight at downhill resort near Khao Yai (Thailand's oldest National Park, UNESCO Heritage Site).
